Founding of Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana, also known as D&G, was founded in 1985 in Legnano, Italy, by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The two met in 1982 while working for Giorgio Correggiari and established a design consulting studio before launching their own fashion house. Their first women’s collection debuted in 1985 at Milan Fashion Week, and the first store opened in Milan in 1987. The brand quickly became known for its Italian-inspired, sensual, and sophisticated designs in clothing, accessories, eyewears.
